Japanese Thread Snips for Sewing – Forged Steel 6” – Green
Green is not a color you often see on traditional Japanese thread snips. Add a substantial 6-inch size and around four decades of unused storage, and this becomes a particularly unusual sewing tool.
The 150mm overall length is much larger than the compact snips commonly seen today. With a 2.76-inch blade, the tool has more presence in the hand while keeping the simple spring-style form of Japanese nigiri scissors.
These snips are made from forged steel and were produced to work. Sewing, embroidery, quilting, and detailed handwork all involve the repeated thread trimming they were made to handle.
Their age and color may catch the eye first, but the fact that they remain unused is part of what makes them interesting. This is an older Japanese tool that can still take its place at the sewing table rather than being treated only as a collectible.
