Japanese Thread Snips for Sewing – Forged Steel 6” – Purple
Purple, 6 inches long, and unused for around four decades — this is not the kind of Japanese thread snip that turns up every day.
The substantial 150mm size gives much more room in the hand than a compact pair, while the 2.76-inch blade and simple spring-style form keep its identity firmly rooted in traditional Japanese thread snips.
Made from forged steel, these were produced as working sewing tools. Their purpose is still the familiar one: trimming thread throughout sewing, embroidery, quilting, and detailed handwork.
Years in storage may have left small differences in the surface from one pair to another. Those marks are part of the history of an unused older tool, not signs of previous use.
What makes this pair special is the combination rather than any one detail — the uncommon purple finish, difficult-to-find 150mm format, forged steel, and the fact that it has remained unused for decades.
A traditional Japanese sewing tool with enough history and character to be interesting, but still meant to work.
