Japanese Thread Snips for Sewing – Wire-Wrapped Handle 6”
At 6 inches overall, these Japanese thread snips are hard to mistake for the compact snips usually seen beside a sewing machine.
The larger 150mm form gives noticeably more room in the hand, and the 2.76-inch blade adds to the substantial feel. A tightly wire-wrapped handle makes them more distinctive still, giving the simple spring-style tool an appearance all its own.
They remain working thread snips, made for the repeated trimming that comes with sewing, embroidery, quilting, and detailed handwork. But for anyone already familiar with smaller Japanese snips, the difference in scale is immediately apparent.
The 150mm format is also one LeGrand encounters far less often than the compact sizes that dominate traditional Japanese thread snips.
These pieces are unused older stock. Years in storage may have left slight discoloration, color transfer, surface marks, or other small variations around the wire-wrapped handle. Rather than hiding that history, each pair carries it a little differently.
For makers who enjoy traditional Japanese sewing tools that fall outside the usual sizes and finishes, these are a particularly unusual find.
