Straight scissors can cut curves. The frustration begins when the curve becomes small enough that you are constantly turning the paper, changing the angle of the scissors, or making a series of tiny corrections just to stay on the line.

That's the problem Curved Edge Scissors are built to solve.

Their short blades follow a gentle curve, changing the way the cutting edge approaches rounded shapes. Instead of asking a straight blade to repeatedly change direction around the design, the curved blade can follow small rounded outlines and shaped contours more naturally.

The difference becomes useful around petals, circles, flowing decorative edges, curved patterns, and other small shapes where the cutting line continually changes direction.

At approximately 4 inches long, the scissors remain compact enough for close work, while the curved blade provides the feature that an ordinary small straight pair does not: a cutting edge shaped for the path you are trying to follow.

The inner blade surface also has a fluorine coating, helping reduce adhesive buildup when working with sticky craft materials.

Fine Edge and Curved Edge are therefore not better and lesser versions of the same scissors. They solve different problems. Choose Fine Edge when the challenge is small-scale detail and precise trimming. Choose Curved Edge when the challenge is following the shape itself.

As with the other LeGrand Detail Scissors, each pair is individually adjusted by skilled craftspeople in Japan so the two blades meet properly through the cutting action.

If you regularly find yourself rotating the work just to keep straight scissors on a small curved line, changing the shape of the blade can make more sense than simply choosing another small pair of scissors.
